L&rsquo;Officiel explores the inclusive term taking over the fashion world.

Amidst the pandemic, younger generations have started to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/politics-culture/phluid-project-founder-celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rewrite the fashion rulebook </a>&mdash; the first rule being that all rules were made to be broken.
As fashion has developed into a space of limitless expression, the restrictions of stereotypical gendered fashion that once existed have been dissolved. Filling its space? &lsquo;Genderful&rsquo; fashion.
A term meant to bring <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/gender-inclusive-beauty-brands-skincare-makeup" target="_blank" rel="noopener">liberation</a> to the fashion realm, &lsquo;genderful&rsquo; has begun to replace terms like &lsquo;genderless&rsquo; and &lsquo;gender-neutral&rsquo; in light of intentionally creating a fashion environment <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/best-gender-neutral-unisex-fragrances-perfume" target="_blank" rel="noopener">for all body types, sizes, and genders</a>.
Comprised of garments that can be worn by any and all bodies, regardless of gender, &lsquo;genderful&rsquo; fashion aims to bring <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/harris-reed-fashion-diary-digital-issue-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">positivity to boundless inclusivity</a>. While terms like &lsquo;genderless&rsquo; have a negative connotation, the use of the word &lsquo;genderful&rsquo; supports the constant flow of one's identity and self expression through fashion.&nbsp;

While artists like <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/harry-styles-launches-new-life-brand-pleasing-beauty-skincare" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harry Styles</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/billy-porter-stuns-in-every-color-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Billy Porter</a>, and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/troye-sivan-interview-pasha-de-cartier-campaign-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Troye Sivan</a> have all powerfully challenged gender barriers in the name of 'genderful' fashion, designers such as <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/joseph-altuzarra-nyfw-return-spring-summer-2022-see-now-buy-now" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joseph Altuzarra</a> have begun to intentionally develop collections for all identities.
&ldquo;Genderful is a very positive word. It acknowledges a kind of plurality of identity, and I think it feels playful,&rdquo; Altuzarra said.
Recently launching genderful line ALTU, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/altuzarra-spring-summer-2022-nyfw-backstage-photos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Atuzarra</a> combines elements of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/giant-flowers-at-valentino-show-autumn-winter-2018-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">traditional femininity</a> and masculinity to create garments for anyone and everyone&ndash;without limitation.
