Onitsuka Tiger celebrated in grand style at their Greenbelt branch.&nbsp;

At Onitsuka Tiger&rsquo;s luxurious Greenbelt 5 branch, influencers, content creators, media and celebrities gathered in what most say was their first event of 2024: a celebration of the Japanese fashion brand&rsquo;s new colorways for their signature shoe style, the Mexico 66.
The iconic sneaker debuted in the grandest fashion, when it was worn by the Japanese national team during the 1966 Olympics&mdash;hence the name&mdash;when the athletes sported the sneaker for Olympic pre-trials held that year in Mexico City. However, it wasn&rsquo;t until 2001 when the shoe became an worldwide hit, finally sealing its Mexico 66 moniker and its place as one of the most unforgettable shoe designs of all time.
In the Greenbelt event, host Nicole Andersson encouraged the audience to approach the Onitsuka staff to get their feet into new Mexico 66 styles and colorways, notably a bold black pair made vibrant by yellow Onitsuka stripes, and a unique combination of green with silver stripes. Seen through these new colorways, the shoe has managed to grow beyond its roots as an athletic shoe and venture into the realm of being a stylish athleisure necessity.

Giving perhaps the best testimony of the fashion prowess of the Mexico66 is beauty queen, author and budding style icon Pia Wurtzbach, who has been a staple guest in Onitsuka Tiger fashion presentations in Milan Fashion Week. In the event, Pia wore head-to-toe Onitsuka, pairing the brand&rsquo;s effortlessly cool RTW collection with a Mexico 66 pair that just suit her style. Other friends of the brand were also present in the event, such as former L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines cover star Laureen Uy, fashion content creators Camille Co, Patricia Prieto and Lissa Kahayon, and model-influencer LA Aguinaldo, who all wore Onitsuka Tiger to the event.
