In the wake of the pandemic, Sassa Jimenez has sought out new avenues for manifesting her craft.&nbsp;

Before 2020, Sassa Jimenez was accustomed to the drill of creating custom pieces for her clients, a system that necessitated numerous face-to-face meetings and a significant amount of interaction. All of this halted when the pandemic hit. To this day, the possibility of returning to a made-to-measure routine remains blurry; however, this did not discourage Sassa from channeling her capacity for creation into something else. The designer recently released a summer capsule collection and, in true Jimenez fashion, its pieces embody flexible, feminine, and youthful cuts made for hopeful languishing.

For Sassa, the standstill paved the way for projects she previously overlooked. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always wanted to make something that was affordable, that you could have in your closet [and] look forward to wearing when we do get out of this.&rdquo; said the designer. This new collection is poignant recall to her previous work, albeit more casual and easily adaptable. The sheer tulle and gathering techniques are classic Jimenez, done in fruity hues that mimic a refreshing summer cocktail. They're perfect for simple, throw-on summer layering and allow the wearer to toy with color.

More recently, she also began opening her doors to more collaborative opportunities, having just tied up with <a href="https://www.fifthwallfest.com/">Fifth Wall Fest</a>, the Philippines&rsquo; first international dance film festival. The collaboration resulted in the short film, <a href="https://www.fifthwallfest.com/serpentine">SERPENTINE</a>, a modern-day interpretation of the beloved Art Nouveau figure Loie Fuller&rsquo;s serpentine dance, and saw Jimenez reinterpret the original film's larger-than-life silk costumes her own way.

But in the midst of isolation, Sassa struggled to find a muse. Ultimately, she fixated on pop culture for creative stimulation, citing K-pop and Marvel movies as examples. &ldquo;I get the hysteria now,&rdquo; the fashion designer beamed when asked about her pandemic-induced inspirations. Jimenez credits Korean pop culture and its avant-garde approach to fashion for injecting personality into her recent work, making her navigation through fashion's strange new age much more fun.
