Onitsuka Tiger revealed their Spring/Summer 2021 Collection at the Milan Fashion Week &ndash; and Heart Evangelista was a witness to the creative innovation.

Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger has once again proven their contemporary sense of style that marries sportiness with fashion. Last September 21, Onitsuka Tiger presented their Spring/Summer 2023 Collection at the Milan Fashion Week. Andrea Pompilio&ndash;Creative Director of Onitsuka Tiger&ndash;spearheaded the collection. It was the brand&rsquo;s fourth time participating and contributing to the Milan Fashion Week. They debuted in Autumn/Winter 2021.

Japanese minimalism was at the heart of the collection&rsquo;s theme. It selected and chose what was necessary to each motif as seen through the pieces. Pompilio highlighted the sporty nature of the brand and made certain that each ensemble was ready-to-wear. The Spring/Summer 2023 collection was subtractive with its aesthetics&ndash;using fabrics that were simple but with complex constructions.

Details turn into design objects. They are not merely clothes. Rather, they exemplify the Japanese heritage Onitsuka Tiger is grounded upon. With flowing silhouettes and an embroidered logo with zigzag stitches, all pieces of apparel were made in Japan. Each T-shirt, skirt, blouse, and knitwear hearkens back to kyudo archers, kimonos, and other awe-inspiring aspects which decorate Japanese culture. Black and white were central when it came to the color palette, as hues of yellow and green referenced Japanese basil leaves.

Undoubtedly, each piece in the collection stood out in its own way. The SERRANO shoes were bold with their tiger stripe-esque graphics. The leather flip-flops were heavily inspired by setta in Japan. Baseball caps reference sun shields that are frequently used by Japanese people&ndash;an endearing addition to the collection. Bags were embroidered with the Onitsuka Tiger logo and the Claw Stripes. They reimagine bowling bags and come in three different sizes&ndash;including a micro size. Special headphones made by Bang &amp; Olufsen made an appearance in the collection as well.

One of the witnesses of Onitsuka Tiger&rsquo;s Spring/Summer 2023 collection was none other than L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines&rsquo; September 2022 print cover girl Heart Evangelista. Gracing the streets of Milan, she got to converse with Onitsuka Tiger&rsquo;s Creative Director Andrea Pompilio, as the two bonded over the brand&rsquo;s history and evolution with the latest collection.

Heart saw the newness and how different the collection was in comparison to its predecessors. And she couldn&rsquo;t help but commend the man behind the collection&ndash;Pompilio&ndash;for his outstanding work and dedication to allowing Onitsuka Tiger to grow beyond streetwear and sporty attires. Each piece of apparel meets its elevation by rooting itself in Japanese art and tradition. Everything was upgraded in the eyes and workmanship of Pompilio.
