Each Filipino family has their own set of household names. The actors who bring forth dramatic nailbiter teleseryes that have viewers glued to their screens and performers who star in pelikulas that resonate with cinemagoers &mdash; these are all people who go from being featured in the media to being part of dinner table conversations. Janine Gutierrez is no exception to this.
The 33-year-old actress was born into a family of entertainers. Some may even say that show business was her family&rsquo;s business. In L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines&rsquo; June 2023 issue, Janine shared, &ldquo;Honestly, I thought there wasn't any space for me anymore because everyone in the family is in the business. When I was younger, I kind of rejected the idea just because I didn't think I could match the success around&nbsp; me growing up. I put this pressure on myself that I don't think I can make a mark there so I'd rather not try...until I got older and the idea became more real because I had to choose what career I had to do after graduating. And then I said, &lsquo;Maybe I'll give it a shot.&rsquo; And then when I did it, here we are: fast forward, and we're still here.&rdquo;

The last few years have seen many of Janine's life stages &ndash; whether onscreen or off-screen. The actress has worked on project after project with different sets of talents with varying natures of pursuits. 2022 saw the series Sleep with Me come to life&ndash;a WLW (women-loving-women) drama with Janine&rsquo;s co-star and previous L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines cover girl Lovi Poe. Janine admitted, &ldquo;It was a challenging role.&rdquo; Her character Harry was a person who had a disability and who was also a lesbian. But, Janine nonetheless was able to tackle multifaceted issues while portraying a multi-dimensional character such as Harry.

Though Janine comes from a long line of entertainers, she has never fallen short of being eager to learn from others outside of her family. With her zeal for and commitment to each project and each role she fits herself in, it&rsquo;s clear why she&rsquo;s still here. That&rsquo;s why she&rsquo;s a household name.
