773 Collective is a quiet reemergence into in-person fashion gatherings &mdash; a handpicked trunk show displaying contemporary local goods.&nbsp;

773 Collective was a unique retail experience featuring the likes of Mikee Silva, Pam Quinones, Carl Jan Cruz, Gabbie Sarenas, EC's Stacy Rodriguez and Carlos del Prado. To hone in on Filipino creativity, Harvey Alumisin developed the pop-up in the hopes of creating a sense of community. Born at a dinner with friends, this retail concept targets all aspects of lifestyle ranging from designer clothing to dried florals, handcrafted pots to embroidered linens, to jewelry and art. Each piece celebrates modern-day Filipino craftsmanship and is heavily rooted in a sense of togetherness.&nbsp; Here,&nbsp;L'Officiel Philippines&nbsp;pauses to chat with Harvey Aluminisin and Jamie Santiago about the story behind 773 Collective, its process, and its inspiration.&nbsp; On their backgrounds&nbsp;
Harvey Michael Alumisin: I am an entrepreneur at heart and I have a strong sense of passion for anything work-related, which led me to create 773 Collective. The core mission is to make local brands shine, along with their stories and the people behind them. 773 Collective&rsquo;s motto is just like how it started, to make it happen, despite any challenges that come along the way.
Jamie Santiago: I work with brand and community-focused businesses that reimagine the way we live, work, and connect. Specifically, I craft strategies and creative ideas to shape and engage communities, build brands and culture and tell stories through strategy, positioning, content, and communications.

On building the 773 Collective team&nbsp;
HMA: Jamie and I are colleagues at HMA Concepts to begin with, and when I had an idea about 773 Collective, I knew Jamie would be the best person to do it. On the inspiration behind 773 Collective&nbsp;
HMA: New York has amazing pop-ups designed like living rooms where you can buy anything and everything. I took inspiration from that and wanted to provide a space for established and emerging artists who don&rsquo;t have a physical space. I was also inspired by the physical space at 773 Dr. Jose P. Rizal Avenue, and wanted to make use of it.
On how fashion has evolved

Back then, magazines were one of the limited avenues to step foot in the fashion world. I personally don&rsquo;t think this is the case now &mdash; I feel because of social media, everyone can be their own editors, designers, and stylists. I believe that social media really made the fashion world reachable to all.
On the process behind 773 Collective 
HMA: It was a random dinner with friends, where I thought about how I could bring more intention to retail and promote consumer confidence while thriving in the pandemic. With the space at hand, I had an opportunity to develop 773 Collective.&nbsp;
It was definitely also during this time where I looked around the space and saw how people enjoyed each other&rsquo;s company&mdash;definitely creating a sense of community. I wanted to bring that same kind of element of togetherness coupled with individuality and spirit to retail. So immediately the following workday, I tapped Jamie Santiago in the project, a colleague at HMA Concepts and a creative ambassador, to help bring this project to life and showcase a very strong lineup of creatives.
What once was just a series of broken ideas has turned into what 773 Collective. We are working toward creating a community that can connect like-minded consumers. Providing local brands a space to thrive, especially during the pandemic.
We want to develop the collective into something bigger in the future, where retailers and our consumers can both feel safe and comfortable.

On their collaboration with the chosen designers of 773 Collective&nbsp;
HMA: We reached out to established and emerging creatives to participate in 773 Collective. We separated it into seven categories, hitting all aspects of lifestyle namely&mdash;fashion, art, lifestyle, homeware, jewelry, candles, planters, and dried flowers.&nbsp;
For fashion, we have Carl Jan Cruz and EC who made an exclusive line for the collective itself. While both are doing clothing, each designer has completely unique aesthetics which cater to different individuals and markets.
For art, we have Mikee Silva, a new artist who makes expressive pieces! For jewelry,&nbsp; we have Vestido who is bringing an exclusive colored jewelry line for the first time since they launched. For lifestyle and homeware, Gabbie Sarenas created linens and throw pillow linens which she also made exclusively for us. In very Gabbie Sarenas fashion, all hand-embroidered and created for the collective. Ren marble who does amazing marble pieces did a few pieces exclusively sold at the collective. They are all made locally &mdash; definitely a game-changer within the Philippine marble industry.
For candles, our scent magician, Rare Earth launched her second drop and a special scent that resonated with the whole vibe of 773 Collective. For planters, Kila Objects &amp; Studio took it to the next level and created planters that were literally art. Lastly for dried flowers, Bloom Room reinvented the typical floral offerings with artful arrangements and modern adornments.
In each category, we focused on one designer and their specialties &mdash; we wanted to create a space where creatives get to showcase their pieces without the competition. With the intention of connecting with like-minded consumers, we want to do it slowly, methodically, and as we get better at it, the customers grow with us. We hope that with this deed, we are able to form a bond for longevity. On the passion behind 773 Collective
HMA: Being a year and a half into wearing masks, we know that there is only so much that photos can bring. We want to provide and relive the same sensory experience of retail in a safe manner pre-pandemic. The ability to touch, smell, see, and speak to the creatives themselves. The physical conversation and the interaction we all somewhat missed.

HMA: Our favorite designers are Miuccia Prada, Johnny Johansson, Baron Van Noten, and Emily Adams Bode. Our favorite photographers include Juergen Teller, Craig McDean, David Sims, and Nan Goldin. Our favorite fashion writer is Rachel Seville Tashjian and our favorite stylists are David Casavant and Malina Gilchrist. On the fashion industry today
HMA: The fashion industry has been a collaborative effort today and as mentioned above, it created a space for everyone that is interested in it. I think the fashion world gives equal opportunities to everyone. On how we can improve fashion&nbsp;
HMA: We should promote sustainable fashion more so that it lessens waste. There are just so many clothes that are being made each year and not a lot are being upcycled. A good way to start is to become more conscious about our shopping habits and paying attention to what&rsquo;s on our clothing labels. I think it&rsquo;s also important to support designers that have started sustainability in the process of their making and designing, that way, others can follow suit.
On who they're currently following in fashion&nbsp;
HMA: I&rsquo;ve noticed how clogs (Boston Birks!) and other homeware styles have been a major choice of footwear throughout the pandemic. I&rsquo;d love to see how it will translate to a more formal setting and how it&rsquo;ll level up especially since we&rsquo;re in the last leg of the latter. I also wanted to see how we can start incorporating our loungewear to make it more unique and that we are able to use this as outerwear.&nbsp;
