The Speedmaster Moonwatch&rsquo;s newest edition takes inspiration from space exploration and the collection&rsquo;s own famous heritage.

OMEGA&rsquo;s most iconic chronograph, the Speedmaster Moonwatch, is known to be the first watch worn on the moon and has been officially worn by NASA astronauts since 1965. Grasping a full circle moment from its heritage, the Speedmaster Moonwatch gets a transformation for its newest edition&mdash;the main highlight: a rare lacquered white dial inspired by the colors of astronaut spacesuits. First created in 1957, the original Speedmaster was designed with the main goal of producing an easy-to-read display with excellent legibility&ndash;thus, resulting in its iconic black dial with white hands and indexes.&nbsp;

For the new edition, OMEGA&rsquo;s designers have preserved this goal with the creative idea of an opposite colorway&ndash;a new dial in white with black detailing and new applied indexes, as well as the addition of the Speedmaster name in red. The reason for this transformation stems from space exploration. Its white and black colorway takes inspiration from the colors of astronaut spacesuits and proves to provide an effective thermal reflection coefficient, while its red detailing comes from the red lines featured on the suits worn since Apollo 13 to signify the commander&rsquo;s rank.

The latest Speedmaster Moonwatch&rsquo;s entire surface is also given a glossy lacquered finish, a technique that&rsquo;s used for the very first time on the Moonwatch&rsquo;s step dial. Beyond these new details, the new model stars OMEGA&rsquo;s signature craftsmanship. This includes a vintage-inspired stainless steel bracelet with five arched links per row, a black anodized aluminum bezel, and the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, providing a classic look that&rsquo;s literally and figuratively out of this world.
