Located in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland, Princes Street is the centerpiece of Johnnie Walker&rsquo;s 185-million pound investment into Scotch whisky tourism. It was developed over the course of four and a half years, and was established with a vision to make whisky more accessible through personalized experiences that will leave visitors with a newfound appreciation for the liquid.
There are several tours one can choose from at Princes Street, covering a wide spectrum of whisky drinkers. Their signature tour is the Johnnie Walker Journey of Flavor, a five-star multimedia experience that caters to both whisky lovers and those just dipping their toes.&nbsp;
Before the tour begins, you take a quiz to determine your personal flavor profile, which then allows Johnnie Walker to tailor the tour to your taste buds. What follows is a 90-minute sensory experience centered around whisky, where you will also be served three different whisky cocktails made bespoke for your preferences.

The other tours include Stir at the Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy, a food and whisky pairing experience featuring dishes from Michelin-starred chefs James and Maria Close; Johnnie &amp; the Chocolatier, a luxury whisky and artisanal chocolate tasting; Whisky Explorers at the Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy, a 60-minute tutored whisky tasting; and Whisky Maker&rsquo;s Cellar, which takes you to Princes Street&rsquo;s underground cellar to taste whiskies straight from the cask.
Apart from the tours, Princes Street&rsquo;s must-sees are its two rooftop bars that crown the building: the 1820 bar and Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy. The 1820 bar offers both food and drink, along with sweeping views of the city and Edinburgh Castle from its balcony. Its concept takes inspiration from John Walker&rsquo;s time as a grocer in the year 1820 &ndash; if he opened a bar, what would that look like? The bar&rsquo;s menu combines fresh, seasonal products with herbs and spices from all over the world, making for a unique drinking experience only found in Princes Street.&nbsp;

The Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy, on the other hand, is the perfect place to hone your whisky palette &ndash; it has 150 whiskies stocked on its shelves, waiting to be enjoyed. In the middle of the Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy is a swirling sculpture adorned with the names of Johnnie Walker&rsquo;s various distilleries, perhaps signaling the kind of experience to expect at the Explorer&rsquo;s Bothy: whisky with a twist. Here, the aforementioned Stir tour takes center stage, pairing innovative whisky cocktails with small plates thoughtfully crafted from the chefs of renowned restaurant Raby Hunt.

More than creating a unique experience, Johnnie Walker is dedicated to making Princes Street an experience for all, and not just for the typical whisky enjoyer. And they&rsquo;ve succeeded so far: according to the brand, half of Princes Street&rsquo;s visitors are women, and just a bit over half are not regular Scotch whisky drinkers. Additionally, Princes Street has also received a five-star VisitScotland accreditation, along with the Icons of Whisky award for Visitor Attraction of the Year, among other awards.
