The designer returned to Milan with a collection filled with flowers, insects, and a lighter take on his signature American tailoring.

For the first time since 2008, Thom Browne returned to Italy. The setting was Milan's Palazzo Serbelloni, where the American designer unveiled a Spring 2027 collection centered on renewal, transformation, and the arrival of warmer days.
In Thom Browne's world, spring begins in a garden. Freshly watered seersucker flowers bloom beneath the sun as bees buzz, frogs leap across lily pads, and dragonflies flutter through the air. Around 400 seersucker flower pots filled the space, carefully arranged in a precise grid that echoed the neoclassical symmetry of the Palazzo Serbelloni.

The collection marked a softer evolution of the designer's signature vision of American prep. Accompanied by the soaring sounds of Klaus Nomi's Nomi Song, the clothes felt lighter, more fluid, and more organic, while still retaining the things that underpin the Thom Browne universe.
Fresh check wools, technical nylon seersuckers, open-weave cottons, graphic wool piqués, airy cashmeres, and colorful madras fabrics formed a wardrobe designed for warmer weather. Sleeveless coats appeared alongside short-sleeved jackets, while floating bag-jackets and partially lined constructions introduced a sense of movement without abandoning Browne's unmistakable proportions.
The house's familiar palette of gray, white, red, and navy expanded to include shades of yellow, green, pink, and sky blue. The colors mirrored the gradual awakening of the garden, growing brighter as the show progressed. Elsewhere, nature appeared everywhere. Embroidered bees climbed honeycombs, frogs hopped between lily pads, and crickets, ants, and dragonfly wings emerged through intricate appliqué and embroidery work.
The craftsmanship was particularly impressive, from hand-painted checks and floating threads to patchworks, intarsias, bullion embroidery, and honeycomb-inspired camouflage motifs. Deliberately distressed edges suggested garments already carrying stories of their own.

Tonal finishes, integrated armbands, cotton cricket knits, and the house's signature red, white, and blue grosgrain detailing grounded the collection in its established codes. Accessories continued the narrative, with wide-brimmed boaters, translucent beekeeper veils, and striped silk ties adding moments of playful eccentricity.
Beneath the decorative layers, the wardrobe itself became noticeably lighter. Poplin shirts with removable contrasting collars and cuffs were layered over fine cotton knits, while Cordura trenches, nylon parkas, and seersucker outerwear reinforced the collection's balance between utility and refinement.
A few stronger pieces punctuated the softness. A structured biker jacket in aged leather and a patent leather scout jacket paired with a matching skirt introduced a sharper edge, a reminder of Browne's ongoing fascination with contrast and proportion.
As the show drew to a close, the vibrant colors gradually faded into white. Then came the final look. Emerging beneath a hand-beaded embroidered tulle veil, a groom appeared almost like an apparition. His polka-dot cotton suit, finished with grosgrain embroidery, seemed to glow beneath the light.
