Fresh from its debut in Milan, the Rolex Perpetual Padellone showcases the brand’s expertise in instantaneous calendar mechanisms, pairing an annual calendar with a poetic moon-phase display.

With its instantaneous annual calendar, the Rolex Perpetual Padellone brings precision and poetry together in an entirely new way. Its moon-phase display connects the movements of the Moon and the Earth. At midnight, meanwhile, the date, day, and month change simultaneously in an instant, ensuring the calendar indications remain perfectly aligned.
The elegant Padellone is presented in 18 ct Everose gold with a crisp white grained dial and a Settimo bracelet. Two additional versions are available: one in 950 platinum with an ice-blue grained dial and matte black alligator strap, and another in 18 ct Everose gold with a pristine white grained dial and brown alligator strap.

Although its design and functions pay tribute to traditional watchmaking, the Padellone delivers exceptional performance through pioneering technical innovations. Its movement operates at a frequency of 5 hertz and is the subject of 30 patent applications, including two dedicated specifically to this model. The new watch forms a bridge between past, present, and future, combining traditional heritage with breakthrough advances while drawing on exceptional expertise to shape future achievements in watchmaking.
The Padellone is a complete-calendar watch. This classic complication displays the day, date, month, and moon phase in addition to the time. The day and month, displayed in English, appear in two windows at 12 o’clock, while a blue hand with a crescent-shaped tip points to the dates arranged around the outer edge of the dial.
The lunar cycle is displayed on a fully visible blue enamel disc that completes one full rotation every lunar month, or 29.53 days. The full moon and new moon are crafted from meteorite, with the new-moon representation coated in dark blue PVD. During a lunar cycle, the two representations align in turn with the triangular indicator positioned above the disc.

Rather than showing the cycle by progressively obscuring part of a moon image, it is expressed through the continuous movement of these two contrasting representations, indicating the passage of time between two new moons. A face motif is pad-printed onto both the full moon and new moon, recalling the historic watch known among collectors as the “Padellone,” on which the moon was depicted with a face surrounded by stars.
Two technical features of the Padellone’s complete calendar stand out in particular. First, it is an annual calendar. Thanks to the patented Haplos system, the mechanism can distinguish between months with 30 days and those with 31. It requires only one manual date adjustment per year, when moving from February to March. Second, the calendar is instantaneous: the date, day, and month all change together in the blink of an eye at midnight. A patent application has also been filed for this feature.
The moon-phase function and the other calendar indications can be adjusted at any time without compromising the integrity of the movement. For this purpose, four correctors, operated with a setting stylus, are positioned along the sides of the case middle.

Inspired by a watch introduced between the late 1940s and early 1950s, Reference 8171, which came to be nicknamed the “Padellone,” the new model brings classical elegance into the present. Its 39 mm case features slender lines, a bezel with a domed upper section and finely fluted lower edge, and a refined dial with a grained center surrounded by a satin-finished outer area. Together, these elements form a contemporary combination of traditional watchmaking and the brand’s aesthetic heritage.
The Perpetual Padellone comes with either an 18 ct Everose gold Settimo bracelet or an alligator strap. Introduced in 2025 with the Perpetual 1908, the Settimo bracelet has a refined appearance and feels exceptionally light on the wrist. Made from rows of seven very small, gently curved links, its design recalls the elegant, jewelry-like bracelets found on certain vintage watches.

Visible through the transparent caseback, calibre 7190 reveals a harmonious composition: an openworked gold oscillating weight, bridges decorated with Rolex Côtes de Genève, and a refined combination of different surface finishes.
Developed and manufactured entirely in-house, the movement is the next evolution of the groundbreaking calibre 7135, introduced in 2025 with the Land-Dweller. Like its counterpart, calibre 7190 operates at a high frequency of 5 hertz.

It is also equipped with a Syloxi hairspring in silicon and a ceramic balance staff. It also features the Dynapulse escapement, a groundbreaking mechanism likewise made from silicon. Highly resistant to magnetic fields, calibre 7190 delivers exceptional performance, particularly in terms of precision, power reserve, ease of use, and reliability.
Finally, the Padellone’s mechanism introduces the Haplos system. This patented system allows the movement to distinguish between months with 30 days and those with 31. It consists of only two components connected to the date-display mechanism: an additional finger lever and an annual-calendar lever. Another technical innovation is that the annual-calendar program is integrated into the reverse side of the month disc, allowing the annual-calendar lever to identify the current month.
