The new Planet Oceans marks the next chapter to Omega's flagship dive watch.

Two decades after the Planet Ocean made its debut, OMEGA has returned to its modern dive watch flagship with a level of intent that feels almost architectural. The fourth-generation Seamaster Planet Ocean is anything but a lightweight upgrade. It&rsquo;s a rebuilding of the collection from the ground up, shaped by the engineering prowess of the Ultra Deep programme, as well as a clear effort to give it a sleeker and more individual aesthetic.
At first glance, it still appear like the original Planet Ocean. The broad-arrow hands remain, as do the strong applied markers and the confident stance that has defined the 2025 line-up. What stands out immediately is how the case&nbsp;has been reimagined.&nbsp;OMEGA keeps the size to 42 mm while reducing the thickness significantly to approximately 13.8 mm.

On the wrist, the watches rest more snugly. It keeps its 600-metre depth rating but wears with a balance and ease that older versions never quite achieved. Moreover, the use of a flat sapphire crystal plays a significant part in this change, giving the case a tighter and more deliberate profile.
The design style is also considerably more straightforward. The surfaces are more angular, recalling certain Seamaster models from the 1980s and 1990s without falling into nostalgia, which distinguish the Planet Ocean visually from the Diver 300M. OMEGA has also removed the helium escape valve, which not only simplifies the case, but also demonstrates the Swiss watch brand&rsquo;s trust in its construction.

Inside the case&nbsp;is a structural titanium inner ring developed as part of the Ultra Deep project. It reinforces the watch at depth while preserving the inner-ring design found on its predecessors. The titanium screw-in caseback, etched with the Seahorse logo, reduces weight and,&nbsp;at the same&nbsp;time,&nbsp;emphasises&nbsp;the watch&rsquo;s technological features.
The dial stays matte black across all variations, giving a solid backdrop for the Arabic numerals. Their open-worked, squarer design provides a precise, modern coolness that complements the streamlined case. Ceramic bezels are available in black, blue, and distinctive orange. That orange tone, which has long been a Planet Ocean trademark, has been developed over years of material research to produce a brighter and more even tone.&nbsp;
Powered by the Master Chronometer calibre 8912, it features a 60-hour power reserve and strong magnetic resistance.&nbsp;As a result, this Planet Ocean feels more focused and relevant.
