The late Virgil Abloh's swan song collection centered on the universality of youth.

&ldquo;We might go to India or Kansas or Cuba, but wherever we go the focus is youth: the stage in your life before you&rsquo;ve been taught or programmed to do, think, or wear certain things,&rdquo; the late Virgil Abloh mused in June 2019. &ldquo;And in that study, you realize that teenagers on opposite sides of the world are dealing with the same things. It reflects the fact that, fundamentally, we are all one.&rdquo;

Circularity is central to Abloh&rsquo;s practice. At Louis Vuitton, the legacy of the Men&rsquo;s Artistic Director is founded on arcs: the coming-of-age premise, the global perspective, and the cycle of creativity. The Fall/Winter 2022 Spin-Off Show in Bangkok &mdash; which debuted nine previously unseen looks from the original collection &mdash; explored these ideas through circular motifs. Drawing on the construct fundamental to its first presentation in January 2022, the collection unfolded in what&rsquo;s been dubbed the Louis Dreamhouse&sup2;, a new squaring of existing ideas and imaginary spaces.

Entering the venue, an alternate universe built in Bangkok&rsquo;s ICONSIAM, one couldn't help but be reminded of Alice&rsquo;s topsy-turvy Wonderland, where gravity is subjective and points of view are challenged. An upside-down house sat center stage, its roof parallel to the floor, existing in a physical but surrealist sphere: the sun orbited the set as models walked in circular paths, musical instruments floating above them like nearby planets. I Dreamt of You, a cinematic prelude created for the show&rsquo;s digital audience, portrayed the Boyhood Ideology&reg; key to Abloh&rsquo;s philosophy through the lens of Thai director Sivaroj Kongsakul. Based on the filmmaker&rsquo;s own childhood memories, the story follows the formative experiences of an 11-year-old boy in rural Thailand. It&rsquo;s an illustration of a belief integral to Abloh&rsquo;s worldview: youth is global.
