Enter the vibrant world of “Colours, Colours” – Severine’s first solo exhibition in Saigon, marking a turning point in her artistic journey.

Severine Phuong Tran used to avoid using color altogether. For years, her drawings were monochromatic, filled with pencil sketches, never using the vibrant hues we associate with emotion and life.
However, everything changed on a short trip to Malaga &ndash; where the beauty of the nature, the warmth of the people and the sheer vibrancy of the atmosphere sparked something deep within her. It was there, standing in front of a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat, that Severine&rsquo;s artistic world changed completely. Inspired by the energy and emotional rawness of Basquiat&rsquo;s work, she began to see the world in colour &ndash; and it quickly became an essential part of her artistic expression.

“When I paint, I am myself”

&ldquo;It takes me back to the child inside me, back to a time when creativity was my whole world. My childhood was filled with drawing, day in and day out. Back then, I used to draw girls in different dresses decorated with flowers. It was always the same &ndash; day in and day out, year in and year out &ndash; but never in colour. I was happy with that simplicity.&rdquo;
But now, every piece she creates is saturated with colour, each brushstroke a celebration of the playful freedom she found in her childhood creativity. A few years ago, Severine began her artistic journey with digital art, documenting the world of fashion through a series of Parisian window displays. It was a natural extension of her fashion design studies, exploring style and design through a contemporary digital lens. However, it wasn&rsquo;t long before her passion for oil painting became her true artistic expression. Today, her work is characterised by vibrancy and depth, as she brings to life the people and stories that spring from the depths of her imagination.

In this exhibition, Severine invites us to explore a world where vibrant colors breathe life into her vision. Her work now depicts emotions and the human condition through vibrant hues. Whether it is the fragile nature of flowers, the spirit of women or the tender innocence of children, Severine portrays the essence of these subjects with a playful palette that captures their soul.
Each brushstroke is a conversation with her inner child, an act of reconnecting with the innocence and spontaneity that first inspired her art. Through this collection, Severine&rsquo;s evolution from simple, monochrome childhood drawings to vibrant, colorful oil paintings tells a story of artistic growth, self-discovery, and a deep, unwavering connection to her passion for art.

Severine Phuong Tran&rsquo;s journey was shaped by her passion for painting since childhood and her international education in art and design. From a young age, Severine was fascinated by the freedom and expressiveness of art. Her earliest memories are filled with the joy of sketching and capturing life&rsquo;s moments on paper. This passion for creativity eventually led her to study art and design in some of the most inspiring cultural centers in the world&mdash;Ho Chi Minh City, Florence, and Paris&mdash;each of which left a profound mark on her journey.
It wasn&rsquo;t until a transformative trip to Malaga, Spain, that Severine truly rediscovered her passion for painting, reconnecting with the art she had loved since childhood. In Malaga, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscape and vibrant people, Severine came across a painting by **Jean-Michel Basquiat** that spoke to her deeply. Basquiat&rsquo;s bold style and powerful use of color changed her perspective on color, inspiring her to incorporate vibrant hues into her work. From that moment on, Severine moved from her previous monochrome sketches to a vibrant palette.
Severine currently works primarily in oil. Her paintings are inspired by people, nature, travel, and her experiences studying and working in the fashion industry, blending them into one vibrant painting. Each work reflects a journey through different cultures and a return to the original joy of creating art.
