Prince Padilla, the Filipino-British designer behind the label <a href="https://novel.gallery/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Novel</a>, presents the brand's newest collection, titled Series 2. "The inspiration for the series relies heavy on textile and garment explorations," Padilla shares to L'Officiel Philippines. "For Series 2, it was important to set the foundations of the brand&rsquo;s philosophy and what it represents within the broader realm of Philippine fashion."

Growing up and having spent the formative years of his life in the United Kingdom, Padilla studied fashion, specializing in menswear and knitwear, at the Manchester School of Art, graduating in 2020. Novel is his emotional response to Filipino fashion culture and a marriage between his two worlds. Padilla's work is an exploration of one's relationship with clothes, fusing conceptual design with heavy narratives and disrupting perspectives on ways of dressing.

"In Series 2, I explore unconventional garment construction through the powerful female form," Padilla continues. "Garments take on their own forms with or without body &mdash; elastications, padded constructions, and sharp silhouettes juxtaposed with subdued technical elements all allude to the Novel woman."
