Fun fact: the conception of L'Officiel Philippines' July 2021 digital cover, starring top influencers Laureen Uy and Rei Germar, involved an immersive movie marathon including the likes of Legally Blonde, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and 13 Going on 30. Why? The Fall/Winter 2021 shows have revived early aughts fashion in a big way &mdash; we theorize that the era's fascination with flamboyant rhinestone-trimmed accessories and dangerously low-rise jeans resonates strongly. After over a year of having to consider the practical, the frivolous and feel-good have never seemed so appealing.

The Gen Z set and nostalgic younger millennials have taken throwback pieces like hip-baring miniskirts, bootcut pants, and silver belly chains to the world stages of TikTok and Instagram, cueing the runways to follow suit. Blumarine, Kim Shui, Anna Sui, Cavalli, and Versace, among others, sent Y2K-flavored bedazzled denim, baby tees, wildly printed mesh, and furry collars down their catwalks; nods to glitzy Pop Princess style (think Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Destiny's Child) and It-girl party glam (this time, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Lindsay Lohan) in the form of tiny sequined minidresses, corsets, and crystal tiaras have also retaken the spotlight courtesy of contemporary brands like Jaded London and Elsie &amp; Fred.
