In the process of making art, the term "artist's proof" refers to the prototypical form of an artwork, whether it be print, painting, or sculpture. During production, the artist's proof is kept in the possession of the artist, who uses it as the basis of reproductions.

A collaboration with Gravity Art Space and presented at Art Fair Philippines 2023, Jude Macasinag's latest collection, aptly titled Artist's Proof, presents ten looks that have undergone development and invite further evolution. Some garments are available either in limited reproduced editions or as one-of-a-kind offerings. There are also certain pieces that are not for sale, staying completely true to the original, non-commercial intention of an artist's proof.

A section of the collection features malleable garments that create freeform sculptures with the body as an anchor. The wearer's silhouette is then absurdly disrupted, challenging conventional perceptions of a human body's shape, through triple-leg trousers and shorts which seem to have been tailored for an imagined added limb. The notion of the found object (existing materials that have been repurposed to create new forms) manifests through the use of familiar souvenir t-shirts and denim jackets, artfully manipulated through draping methods that echo the grand gestures of classic haute couture.

"The whole aim of the project was to show that the fields of art and fashion aren't too different, especially in the Philippines," Macasinag shares to L'Officiel Philippines. "[Both fields] are inherently related through the processes, studies, and concepts that are formed between both practices."
