The French fashion designer's latest collection reads like a love letter to his family's roots and Proven&ccedil;al upbringing.

For&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/spring-summer-2026">Spring/Summer 2026</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/jacquemus">Jacquemus</a>&nbsp;presented&nbsp;Le Paysan&nbsp;(&ldquo;The Peasant&rdquo;), a collection of women's and menswear that paid poetic tribute to rural life and to its designer&rsquo;s own roots in the Proven&ccedil;al countryside. Staged in l&rsquo;Orangerie de Versailles, the show was a study in contrasts: earthy and ethereal, simple yet sculptural, grounded but never without drama.&nbsp;The overarching mood was fresh and minimal, guided by Creative Director Simon Porte Jacquemus&rsquo;s desire to craft an &ldquo;autobiographical journey,&rdquo; one that begins with the rustic quiet of the countryside and evolves into something nearly operatic in silhouette.
In the collection&mdash;which was revealed on the last day of the Men's Paris Fashion Week calendar&mdash;structure met softness in oversized poplin&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/dresses">dresses</a>, cut with architectural precision, billowed with voluminous pleats.&nbsp;But it was some of the latter looks (especially 51 and 52) that best captured the soul of the collection.&nbsp;One floor-length white crochet dress clung to the body and flowed in equal measure, intricately woven like an heirloom tablecloth passed through generations. Another&nbsp;semi-sheer white gown flowed like a veil, capturing incredible volume. Its dramatic, batwing sleeves gathered at the waist and created a silhouette that felt like a breeze stopped in motion.
&rdquo;I want to create an autobiographical journey for June: one that begins in the countryside, soft and minimal, with linen as the foundation. From there, it gradually transforms, blossoming into an explosion of bonbon hues, stripes, embroidery, and prints. Various colors emerge, all connected, culminating in a look that is totally couture,&rdquo; Simon wrote on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DLepdiit8tG/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a>.&nbsp;
Menswear brought similar rustic elegance: cropped jackets, breezy linen trousers, and impeccable tailoring. One standout look featured a striking all-white suit with visible topstitched stripes and knee-length trousers, finished with a green-and-white clutch that resembled something freshly plucked from the earth.
Color choices stayed grounded: creamy whites, soft sage greens, faded yellows, with the occasional bold burst of black&mdash;who said black&nbsp;isn&rsquo;t&nbsp;a summer color? There was slew of leather looks across both men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s collections, even if the material doesn't immediately come to mind as a warm weather go-to fabric.
Jacquemus' Spring/Summer 2026 show felt like a homecoming, stitched with memory, softness, and confidence that only comes from knowing exactly where you come from. It didn't abandon the brand's signature fantasy while remaining rooted in something deeply personal, underscoring a moment of evolution for the French label.
