<p><span>The Dutch fashion designer enters the realm of visual art with haute couture.</span></p>

<p><span>Last June 24, </span><strong>Iris van Herpen</strong><span> launched &ldquo;Hybrid Show&rdquo;, a never before seen art exhibition as part of Paris Haute Couture Week. The exhibit ran for 45 minutes, showcasing five &ldquo;body sculpture&rdquo; couture outfits worn by models (referred to as &ldquo;performers&rdquo;) suspended over a white canvas alongside van Herpen's first four aerial sculptures.</span></p>

<p><span>The performers swayed gracefully as they put on an entrancing performance. They stood gracefully with the support of shoes that protruded from the canvas, giving the illusion of defying gravity.</span></p>

<p><span>Drag queen </span><strong>Hungry</strong><span>, wore the Ecosophy gown made of intricate 3-D printed pieces while </span><strong>Gia</strong><span> </span><strong>Bab</strong><span> showcased the Umwelt gown adorned with thousands of gradient pearls. </span><strong>Coco</strong><span> </span><strong>Rocha</strong><span> resembled an underwater goddess wrapped in the gold Sensorium drape. </span><strong>Lily</strong><span> </span><strong>Cole</strong><span> wore the cloudy Aeromorphosis look that perfectly captures the flow of air in three dimensions. The Ataraxy gown was worn by </span><strong>Iekeliene</strong><span> </span><span><strong>Stange</strong> </span><span>with drapes of skin-toned glass-organza that catches the light.</span></p>

<p><span>Although static, the aerial sculptures nonetheless mimicked flow and movement. The designer made use of a tulle canvas with elements of oil paint, silk, and 3-D prints.</span></p>
