The fashion world is in mourning today with the peaceful passing of Giorgio Armani at age 91. For many of his team, he was simply &ldquo;the Signor Armani.&rdquo; The press knew him as &ldquo;King Giorgio&rdquo;&mdash;a moniker that held respect, affection, and deep appreciation.
Armani departed surrounded by his loved ones, after a lifetime devoted wholeheartedly to his creative vision and the business that bore his name. Right up to the end, he remained engaged with the collections and projects that defined him. This September would have marked his 50th year in fashion&mdash;an anniversary now tinged with bittersweet significance.
In a joint message, family and staff expressed their grief and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the values and legacy he built. Their words echo the impact Armani had on fashion&mdash;and beyond, on the modern lifestyle.

Armani&rsquo;s vision of elegance&mdash;rooted in curiosity and disciplined rigor&mdash;shaped more than clothing. It influenced design, architecture, and hospitality, always anchored in a special relationship with people and with Milan, his beloved city. His independence of thought and integrity made Giorgio Armani a singular global brand spanning five decades.
A public space for mourning opens Saturday, September 6, through Sunday, September 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Armani/Teatro in Milan on via Bergognone 59. In keeping with his wishes, the funeral will remain private.
