<p>My first role at <em>L'Officiel</em> and bringing the title to the Philippines in celebration of its 100th year as a global authority in fashion.&nbsp;</p>

      <p><span>It was a cold afternoon in the middle of January of 2014, I was in my assigned seat at the dismal chamber of the Grand Palais&rsquo; ground floor in Paris, where Dries Van Noten was about to present his men&rsquo;s Fall/Winter collection. While trying to draw my attention to the </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">designer&rsquo;s usual intricate embellishments in his pieces, my </span><span>eyes were anchored to someone else across the runway&mdash;an editor I look up to, of a magazine I&rsquo;ve always wished to work for. Without hesitation, I approached that person right when the show ended and outright asked for a job at the magazine. For six years since that day, I served as a contributing Fashion Editor of </span><span><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span>and its multiple worldwide titles. Today, it&rsquo;s more than a privilege to spearhead the same brand I&rsquo;m most familiar with, in my motherland with a different market that I&rsquo;m constantly trying to adapt. </span></p>

      <p><span>When </span><span><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span>was first published in 1921, a World War had just ended, and a battle against the deadly Spanish Flu had been won. Art, in all forms, slowly picked up, holding a promising growth and Paris was the center of it. </span><span><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span>was published as the official publication of the School of Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne representing French couturiers that also helped jumpstart the careers of designers such as Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. A hundred years later, a similar battle has struck us and we are still resiliently fighting a global pandemic. While eagerly waiting for a better tomorrow, we </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">find hope in bringing the same energy and creative spirit that </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;"><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">can attest to throughout its beginnings. A hundred years later, we re-introduce </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;"><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">to the Philippines.</span></p>

      <p><span>This year comes with multiple celebrations as the return of the publication in the Philippines coincides with the 100th year of </span><span><em>L&rsquo;Officiel</em> </span><span>as a global authority in fashion. As we aim to continue a storied legacy, it&rsquo;s also important to acknowledge the different times we live in and translate perspectives as a multiplatform brand, while building a new vision&mdash;creative and business-wise. </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">Formerly a monthly magazine, <em>L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines</em> will now be presented via two formats: a quarterly collectible magazine on print, and an always-on website where readers can access exclusive information instantly. </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">Our first print issue portrays a direct representation </span><span>of what you can expect in our content: global fashion and pop culture. Gracing our covers are Filipino actress and singer Nadine Lustre, idol group WayV, and top model Yumi Lambert.&nbsp;</span></p>
