Jordan is no stranger to the push and pull of being caught between two cultures &mdash; it&rsquo;s this limbo that has shaped his Central Saint Martins graduation collection, titled Sa Ilalim ng Araw.

The two sides of a coin may not have anything in common, but without either, that same coin wouldn&rsquo;t exist at all. Young designer Shaun Jordan has juggled his Filipino and British identity his whole life, and it&rsquo;s taken him years to find peace being in between. &ldquo;I feel that combining [these parts of me] helped me create and celebrate my own sense of cultural identity and, in essence, escape the social pressures of having to &lsquo;choose sides&rsquo; or fit into the box of identifying what culture I stood for,&rdquo; he says of his design principle.

Jordan&rsquo;s Central Saint Martins graduation collection, titled Sa Ilalim ng Araw, mirrors this struggle towards celebration. It&rsquo;s an essay &mdash; perhaps not quite a love letter &mdash; dedicated to the unease of displacement, and to the eventual strength that emerges after a prolonged struggle with duality. &ldquo;Sa Ilalim ng Araw is a perfect amalgamation of what I feel represents both cultures in an almost na&iuml;ve and romantic way,&rdquo; Jordan muses.
