SB19 goes big on Wakas at Simula. With 24 tracks and years of material, the album gives a clear sense of where they&rsquo;ve been and where they&rsquo;re headed. The group looks back at the run that built them, then moves forward with more control over how they sound and what they want to say.&nbsp;The album pulls from their EP trilogy, Pagsibol, Pagtatag, and Simula at Wakas, alongside six new tracks. Some of the older songs return with updated arrangements.
Let&rsquo;s talk new tracks. &ldquo;Emoji,&rdquo; featuring&nbsp;Jolin Tsai, moves fast and hits hard, built around a club rhythm with a slightly chaotic edge. It&rsquo;s about how people hide behind curated versions of themselves online, something the group translates visually in the music video through two opposing worlds, polished and messy. &ldquo;Toyfriend,&rdquo; with BE:FIRST, leans smoother, more playful, and easy to sit with. &ldquo;Everblack&rdquo; pushes into darker territory, while &ldquo;Memories&rdquo; keeps things closer to home.
&ldquo;VISA&rdquo; opens the album on a grounded note. It taps into something familiar for Filipino artists, the reality of movement, access, and everything that comes with trying to go global. It sets up the bigger picture, especially with SB19 heading to Lollapalooza and Summer Sonic this year.
Wakas at Simula together handles time exceptionally. The older tracks keep it anchored, while the new ones push it forward. It doesn&rsquo;t feel like a look back at all. Instead, it feels like they&rsquo;ve taken everything they&rsquo;ve learned and decided to move with more clarity.
