It was the first day of Copenhagen Fashion Week, and the city was wrapped in snow. That evening unfolded not in a show space or behind velvet ropes, but around a long communal table at the Louise Roe Gallery and Café. Candles flickered against travertine and glass. Conversations drifted easily across languages, disciplines, and continents.
I arrived just after the opening speech but in time for what mattered most: dinner.
Seated beside Stine Elmegaard Bendixen, co-founder of Intro Outro Agency and co-host of the evening, we spoke about life in that way strangers sometimes do when they sense a shared wavelength. She paused mid- sentence, studied me for a moment, and asked if I wanted to meet Louise Roe. A stunned yes followed.
 Louise was seated at the center of the table, surrounded by friends, collaborators, editors, stylists, and designers. When Stine introduced us, she stood, embraced me warmly, and asked how I was as if we had known each other before that moment. It was clear: this was never just a dinner. It was a ritual of connection, a deliberate pause to gather her community.
 Designer, founder, partner, and mother, Louise Roe Andersen carries her roles with quiet authority. Her voice is soft, yet her presence recalibrates a room. That evening, her children, Emil Roe and Sophia Roe, moved gracefully among guests, refilling water, sharing laughter, welcoming strangers with the same ease their mother radiates.
Her work&mdash;lamps, vases, glassware&mdash;needs no signature. You simply know it is hers. Scandinavian in restraint, deeply feminine in spirit, unmistakably human. In this exclusive interview with L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines, we move beyond the objects and discuss the intricacies of community, motherhood, leadership, and living beautifully.

You chose to open Copenhagen Fashion Week with a shared dinner. Why does gathering people around a table still feel essential to you, especially in an industry driven by speed and spectacle?
The connection between fashion and interiors has always felt instinctive to me. I went to fashion school when I was younger, and when I bring my daughter into the conversation, I see how effortlessly the two worlds understand one another. I truly love to host. I love to make people feel welcome and comfortable. I value relaxed gatherings, where people don&rsquo;t have to play a certain role but can simply be who they are.&rdquo;
That evening felt less like an event and more like a ritual. What role does intentional hospitality play in how you build community?
Intentional hospitality is about welcoming people into our space so they feel comfortable. My gallery is like a second home to me. It&rsquo;s deeply personal. I care that every guest feels welcome, just as I would in my own home. They lower their guard. And that&rsquo;s when you connect on a deeper level.
In Filipino culture, the table is sacred. It is where bonds are formed and stories are inherited. How do you see shared meals as a language that transcends design and borders?
Around the table, we are simply people sharing a moment. When someone cooks for you, they offer more than food. They offer time, care, and attention. It&rsquo;s one of the purest forms of love language. A gesture that says: I made this for you, and I&rsquo;m glad you&rsquo;re here.

Your work is instantly recognizable without ever being loud. How do you define restraint as a creative strength?
Restraint is about knowing what to include and what to leave out. It&rsquo;s not about limiting creativity. It&rsquo;s about creating focus and clarity. It&rsquo;s a kind of minimalism. I aim to create objects and atmosphere that feel intentional, effortless, and timeless. A subtle detail. A balanced composition. These quiet moments make a design memorable.
Scandinavian design is often described as minimal, yet your pieces feel emotional, even tender. Where does that tenderness come from?
My tone of voice is deeply personal. I draw inspiration from everything around me, the objects, textures, and moments that evoke feeling. I notice materials the way someone might study a still life. Even the smallest detail can be transformed into something else. Maybe I am a romantic Scandinavian who believes minimalism could use a little more edge and expression.
When someone lives with one of your pieces, what do you hope it gives them beyond beauty?
In the same way my inspirations create the design, I hope the design invokes feelings. Maybe even inspires that person. I would love for the piece to feel personal to them.
How has motherhood reshaped the way you lead and create?
My private and professional life flow into one another. I work closely with my children and my husband. Design is not just my work, it is my passion and way of living. Having my family around me when hosting strengthens my sense of motherhood. Roles blend. We all feel responsible for creating a good time.&rdquo;

I&rsquo;m not here to empower for the sake of power. I&rsquo;m here to create beauty and bring goodness into life.

You hold many roles at once: designer, founder, partner, mother. How do you stay grounded?
Passion is such a strong force that it often makes you forget that work is work. Having my family around me professionally is a strength. But it also creates a need for moments alone to find silence and reconnect. I am deeply proud that I have had the opportunity to support my family while building something we can share.&rdquo;
Your energy is gentle yet unmistakably strong. What does power look like to you as a woman today?
I believe in positivity and in the effect it can create between us. I believe in dreaming. I love turning ideas into reality. Sometimes I have too many. It can be challenging to stay focused. But within all of that, I feel my strength naturally shines through. I&rsquo;m not here to empower for the sake of power. I&rsquo;m here to create beauty and bring goodness into life. True strength arises naturally. It is far more meaningful than something performed to appear powerful.
When someone says, &ldquo;I knew it was yours the moment I saw it,&rdquo; what does that mean?
When someone can see me in my designs, I feel I have achieved something real. That my inner world has found its way into the physical.
Many women, particularly in cultures like the Philippines, build legacies quietly and intuitively. What advice would you give to women shaping something enduring?
It is important to stay true to your passion and not create simply for approval. Positive feedback is encouraging and essential. But the real achievement is being able to make a living from your ideas, your skills, your passion. Keep finding solutions when things feel difficult. Never stop dreaming, though of course, be realistic.
How do you remain rooted in Scandinavian identity while speaking to a global audience?
I remain rooted through natural materials, simplicity, and functionality. Some kind of Scandinavian minimalism is simply within me as a Dane. At the same time, I aim to create pieces with personality, timelessness, and meaning.

If your designs were to enter a home in Manila, what story would you hope they tell?
I want them to bring real value and carry an expression that is immediately felt. To tell a story of honesty, warmth, intention, not just visually but through touch, weight, presence.&rdquo;
How would you like your work to be remembered?
I hope my designs will be remembered for their honesty and integrity. I hope they endure. Not just for a moment, but every time you notice them standing there in their functionality and still life. If my name is remembered for creating beauty with intention and honesty in homes and places, then I have succeeded.&rdquo;
What does a beautiful life look like?
A balance between feeling secure and having the freedom to be spontaneous. I find beauty in small moments in objects, in nature, in experiences with the people you love. In brief, unexpected connections. A friendly eye contact. A smile from someone you don&rsquo;t know.
