A decade after its founding, the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize has become one of contemporary craft’s most prestigious honors. For its milestone 10th edition, the global search is on once again for makers pushing tradition, technique, and material into new territory.

Fashion and craft go hand in hand, and no other designer House knows this better than LOEWE. Founded in Spain in 1846, the House grew from an artisanal workshop, and nearly two centuries later, craftsmanship and leather expertise remain at the core of its identity. 
It makes sense, then, that LOEWE would create one of contemporary craft’s most prestigious international awards. Established in 2016 and first awarded in 2017, the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize celebrates excellence and innovation across craft, with past entries spanning textiles, bookbinding, ceramics, jewellery, lacquer, paper, and other disciplines. Beyond recognizing individual makers, the Prize has helped bring craft greater global and institutional recognition while supporting techniques and traditions at risk of disappearing.
A decade later, its reach speaks for itself. The 2026 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize received more than 5,100 submissions from 133 countries and regions, offering artisans an opportunity to have their work seen on an international stage.

Submissions for the 10th edition opened on July 9, 2026, and will close on October 15, 2026. Applicants are invited to submit their work through the official LOEWE Craft Prize website, with the shortlisted works set to be exhibited and the winner announced in Europe in spring 2027.

The 2027 jury includes LOEWE FOUNDATION President Sheila Loewe as chairwoman alongside LOEWE creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernández, architects Frida Escobedo and Wang Shu, designer Naoto Fukasawa, mixed-media artist Ibrahim Mahama, ceramicist Magdalene Odundo, Louvre Museum Decorative Arts director Olivier Gabet, architect and industrial designer Patricia Urquiola, and 2026 Craft Prize winner Jongjin Park, among others.
Entries will first be considered by an Expert Panel that includes artists, curators, cultural figures, and previous Craft Prize finalists. Among them are Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum Chief Curator Michelle Millar Fisher, ceramicist Sara Flynn, glass artist Jessica Loughlin, book artist Adelene Koh, and multidisciplinary artist Fadekemi Ogunsanya.

For the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2027, one winning artist will receive €50,000, while two special mentions will each receive €5,000. All shortlisted works will also be exhibited in Europe in spring 2027, where the jury will select the winning piece and special mentions.
The award is as much about visibility as it is funding. LOEWE's digital platform The Room showcases works by artists nominated for the Craft Prize, allowing audiences around the world to discover, research, and collect pieces from some of contemporary craft's most innovative names.
The 2026 edition offers a glimpse into the kind of work that receives the Prize. Jongjin Park won for Strata of Illusion, created using paper and coloured porcelain slip. Special mentions went to Graziano Visintin for Collier, two necklaces constructed from tiny gold cubes and decorated using the ancient metalworking technique of niello, and the Baba Tree Master Weavers × Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry, which brought together elephant grass, aerial imagery, and traditional basketry techniques.
