FIFTH WALL FEST returns for its third year celebrating the quintessential essence of the art of dance in film. Founded in 2020 by Madge Reyes, FIFTH WALL FEST is the Philippines&rsquo; first and only international festival for dance films. The festival advocates bringing value to the art of dance filmmaking and connecting local and international dance film communities together. It aims to spotlight films created exclusively for dance and choreographies on camera and further raise visibility and discourse about the craft.&nbsp;

For its third year, FIFTH WALL FEST highlights dance from all angles with a ten-day festival from October 7 to 16 featuring both in-person and online events for film and FIFTH WALL FEST&rsquo;s BLACK BOX, a platform for engagement, interaction, and education for movement. The festival opened last October 6 with an exclusive preview of this year&rsquo;s program. The opening night showcased a photo exhibit on movement featuring works by Koji Arboleda and Renzo Navarro, a film screening of &ldquo;Happy Days Are Here Again&rdquo; by Cirio H. Santiago, and a live performance by Steps Dance Studio and the AMP Big Band.&nbsp;

To celebrate the festival&rsquo;s transition to an in-person event, FIFTH WALL FEST prepared a grand lineup of various programs in multiple locations and formats. Festival-goers can enjoy in-person screenings of film installations revolving around the connection between dance, film, and everyday life at the UP Fine Arts Gallery and Sine Pop. The line-up includes Cafe M&uuml;ller, Agnes Locsin Retrospective, Hoppla!, Movement in Focus, and more. The festival also prepared dance-themed visual art exhibits at Tarzeer Pictures and Sine Pop. Various online film screenings, dance film entries, and virtual workshops are also available at FIFTH WALL FEST&rsquo;s website for everyone to view and enjoy.&nbsp;

Putting the art of dance film at the center, FIFTH WALL FEST aims to transcend beyond the fifth wall &ndash; an imaginary barrier that guests pass after exiting at the end of a cultural experience &ndash; for an endless celebration of dance from all angles. Shedding light onto dance filmmaking as a craft, this festival opens a lot of doors for further visibility and recognition of local and international dance communities.
