Even before their debut on Aug. 18, Cortis was already trending online as the next K-pop group to watch out for.

BigHit Music, the label behind global K-pop phenomenons&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/bts-jin-empire-state-building-echo-album" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BTS</a>&nbsp;and TomorrowxTogether (TXT), has introduced its first new group in six years, and even before it officially debuted on Aug. 18, the hype was clearly there for Cortis.&nbsp;
Cortis debuted with five members: Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho. The group's name comes from the phrase "color outside the lines".&nbsp;
Even at one of the industry's biggest labels,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/everything-you-need-to-know-about-kpop-group-newjeans-danielle-hanni" target="_blank" rel="noopener">K-pop debuts</a>&nbsp;are far from easy, but the group's five members, the oldest of whom is 19, have said that passion, practice, and patience have been the key to making it through the nerve-wracking process&mdash;though, a little bit of advice from their elders in BTS and TXT always helps too.&nbsp;
"BTS gave us the advice to do well by the people that you&rsquo;re working with, the staff. And I feel like that&rsquo;s all that matters. To hit a long run, you&rsquo;ve got to be good to the people around you. You&rsquo;ve got to show love," Martin told&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/cortis-bighit-new-boy-group-debut-interview-1235396193/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rolling Stone</a>&nbsp;earlier this month.
"Another piece of advice BTS gave us is that a lot of people may think it&rsquo;s the end once you debut. But actually, the debut is just the beginning, so there&rsquo;s no need to be perfect," Juhoon added in the same interview. "Show improvement and keep evolving as you go. That&rsquo;s been helping me a lot for where we are right now in this particular moment in time when I&rsquo;m just about to debut."
Cortis has also drawn plenty of comparisons to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/katseye-kpop-facts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Katseye</a>, a global girl group under the same parent company, for its unique, carefree visual aesthetic, top-notch&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/k-pop-gender-fluid-fashion-impact" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fashion moments</a>, and thrilling public debut.

Cortis released its first single, "GO!" on Aug. 10, and the song's accompanying music video has since racked up almost 6 million views, demonstrating that fans are most certainly there, and they are loud with their support.&nbsp;
Just over a week later, "What You Want" dropped. Funky, '<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/twiggy-model-makeup-hair-mod-60s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">60s</a>-inspired guitar riffs, bold rap verses, and smooth vocals come together on the track, culminating in a leading single that perfectly encapsulates the group's youthful, fresh attitude as they burst onto the scene.

Though the group is made up of teenagers, Cortis' five members are no strangers to the industry. Martin, the group's 17-year-old Korean-Canadian leader, has reportedly played a role in producing top songs from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/best-dressed-k-pop-stars-bts-blackpink-jackson-wang" target="_blank" rel="noopener">K-pop</a>&nbsp;peer groups, including Enhypen's "Outside," TXT's "Beautiful Strangers," and Illit's ultra-catchy bubblegum pop track, "Magnetic."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Juhoon previously worked as a youth model before he was scouted by the entertainment giant, and 19-year-old&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/hong-kong-fashion-fest-details-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hong Kong</a>-born James assisted with the equally viral "Magnetic" choreography.&nbsp;
Sixteen-year-old members Seonghyeon and Keonho are powerhouses in their own right, with each finding their own unique passion and talent for crucial sides of production like lyricism and identity development.&nbsp;
All in all, each member of Cortis contributes their own vital elements and are reportedly actively involved in the creative side, already setting them apart from other peers in the modern industry.

Cortis' debut EP is slated to drop on Sept. 9, and includes 5 songs: "GO!" "What You Want," "FaSHioN," "JoyRide," and "Lullaby."&nbsp;
Given the group's penchant for cross-genre experimentation, fans are already anticipating nothing less than a catchy, complex sonic experience from Cortis.
