Celebrating its 20th year, Art in the Park once again transforms Jaime Velasquez Park into an accessible art gallery.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Over the years, the Philippine art scene has undergone a significant transformation, as artists and institutions continue to find new ways to engage and connect with a broader audience. What was once largely confined to traditional white-walled galleries has now expanded into a more visible and accessible landscape, with independent spaces and community-driven exhibitions opening new avenues for the local creative communities.&nbsp;
For Art in the Park, however, this idea of bringing art closer to the public was never a new concept. Years before this shift, the outdoor fair had already been inviting audiences to experience art beyond the gallery walls for free &mdash; turning public places as meeting grounds where art could be discovered casually and collectively by collectors, first-time visitors, and even artists themselves. Now celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the beloved fair returns to Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati City this March 15.&nbsp;

Reflecting on the two-decade experience, co-founder Trickie Lopa shared, &ldquo;[Art in the Park] is a relaxing way to enjoy art. It&rsquo;s always my way of going back to why I love art.&rdquo; She continued, &ldquo;It hasn&rsquo;t changed in 20 years &mdash; I [still] get the same feeling from way back.&rdquo;
For this milestone edition, Art in the Park brings together 55 exhibitors, spanning galleries, art collectives, independent art communities, and student groups. In the spotlight this year is contemporary artist Ayka Go, whose work explores the theme of memory and materiality through paintings and collages that reimagine the folds, tears, and textures of paper.

Alongside her exhibit, the fair also reunites a lineup of artists who have headlined past editions, including Demi Padua, Yeo Kaa, Leeroy New, Pete Jimenez, Antipas Delovato, Mark Justiniani, TRNZ, Lynyrd Paras, Nasser Lubay, Manny Garibay &mdash; offering visitors a rare opportunity to interact and acquire works from artists who have helped shape the fair.
Staying true to their founding principle of making art more attainable, Art in the Park continues to cap all artworks at PHP 70,000. This initiative encourages both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers to take home a piece of contemporary Filipino art in an open and welcoming environment.

Beyond the artworks itself, Art in the Park also supports a meaningful cause. A portion of the proceeds from every art piece sold will go to the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, supporting its ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the country's culture and heritage.
As it marks two decades, the art fair continues to be a reminder that art can be both accessible and deeply meaningful &mdash; that it does not need to remain behind walls to be appreciated. Instead, it should be celebrated in shared spaces, where people can freely interact, engage with, and bring art into their everyday lives.
