By the time I sat down with Rei Germar, she&rsquo;s already wrapped a full day on set. Six layouts and outfit changes in, she remains just as energized as when she first greeted us in the morning. She settles into the makeup chair once more to get comfortable, ready to shift from being in the frame to a more relaxed conversation. There&rsquo;s no rush for the cover star, even as the day outside slips into evening, and instead, she carries herself with a steady kind of confidence that only comes from years of being in front of the camera and, more importantly, growing into herself beyond it.&nbsp;
Over the years, Rei Germar has become a recognizable presence in the digital space, amassing over 1.5 million subscribers on Youtube and 1.5 million followers on Instagram. She blends lifestyle, beauty, and fashion into a visual diary that many of her followers find comfort in. But today, she stands at a different yet still familiar point in her life: one marked not just by content, but by intention. No longer defined solely by the platforms she built her name on, Rei Germar is stepping into a chapter that feels more grounded, more personal, and ultimately, more her.

Like many creators of her generation, Rei&rsquo;s entry into content creation began organically, drawn to the idea of creating fun videos and sharing her own experiences online. &ldquo;It was December of 2016 when I uploaded my first ever YouTube vlog.&rdquo; she starts. &ldquo;I'm a huge YouTube watcher and I would watch a lot of foreign creators and I couldn't see myself in any of them.&rdquo; she admits, noting how she wanted to create the kind of representation she couldn&rsquo;t find online. &ldquo;I grew up not having a big sister. There's this girl, her name is Anna Akana, and she would make content about topics that not a lot of women would talk about or are comfortable talking about, and I feel like I want to be that girl for more people, like a Filipino version of that.&rdquo; True to that intention, her videos take on the comforting familiarity of an older sister&rsquo;s presence&mdash;candid, conversational, and effortlessly engaging, carried by her inherently chatty nature.
What started as a creative outlet gradually evolved into something more purposeful. Looking back, she recognizes just how much her content has changed over the years. &ldquo;My content really revolves around my life. In the first few months of my content creation, I was just doing sit down videos like hauls and makeup challenges until I eventually decided to start really sharing about my life, like my travels, the events I go to, and my daily life.&rdquo; she shares. Her inspirations today are less about what would pull in the views and more about what&rsquo;s truly authentic to her, often drawing from moments that feel raw and honest. 
But in the process of growing online, Rei has also learned to be more discerning about what she shows to the world. &ldquo;Honestly, if you're gonna ask me if I could change something about how I used to make content, I think I would be more careful in sharing my personal stuff because not everyone deserves to have access to me, to my life.&rdquo; she admits. &ldquo;I'm not saying that I'm secretive, but I am just more intentional about the things I share now. I also take more time offline compared to how I would vlog every single day before with my big camera vlogging setup.&rdquo;

Being in the public eye has also meant learning how to handle criticism. While negative comments and online backlash are inevitable, her approach to dealing with them has undeniably shifted over time. It was hard in the beginning, she admits, as everything she has put out before felt very personal to her, which also meant that every comment on her published content felt just as personal. &ldquo;The community that I was growing is very close to my heart. I&rsquo;m a Youtube girl, so I really started long-format. So my connection with my subscribers is really strong.&rdquo; she shares.&nbsp;
&ldquo;For like five years, that's how it felt for me until I realized it's not personal to them. To them, I was just something they consume. I'm like a 9x16, 15-second video that you consume and probably forget. And I think what hurts for me is that I'm not like a commodity that you just consume. I'm an actual human being. So again, everything that I put out there, I put my heart and soul into. I think that negativity is so contagious that sometimes, when people see just one thing, other people would feel so empowered to just hate as well.&rdquo; Now, she has also learned to take a more intentional approach in the way she consumes content, setting boundaries around what she allows herself to see and choosing to focus on growth rather than noise.

Offline and away from the curated posts, Rei gravitates towards the simple things: journaling, spending time with her dogs, and watching action movies with her partner. Maintaining a balance between her online presence and private life has become increasingly important, especially with the huge following she has now. Travel, too, has played a significant role in deepening her point of view in life. More than the places and the cultures, she finds herself most drawn to the interactions she forms with the people she meets along the way. &ldquo;I have this notebook and I call it &lsquo;Inspiring Souls I Meet&rsquo;. So every time I travel, I would write about two to three people. Sometimes I don't even know their name. I would say, &lsquo;boy on the bus&rsquo; or something like that. And I would write there why this soul inspired me.&rdquo;
It's a perspective that feels both refreshing and fitting, especially for someone who has long nurtured a large community online over the years. &ldquo;I think it's so important to get out of my bubble and really meet people from different parts of the world because it just opens your eyes about different experiences,&rdquo; she expresses. &ldquo;Because when you meet another person from a completely different culture with a completely different background, it's surprising how much you will learn.&rdquo;
When she&rsquo;s not travelling and spending time with her loved ones, she chooses to be productive with her business. For Rei, building her own brand was a step that felt inevitable, having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs. But more than that, she is guided by a future-focused perspective. &ldquo;I'm a content creator, it's my full-time job. But as much as I love doing social media, I also know that eventually, I would need to focus on the little family I would eventually focus on and grow.&rdquo;&nbsp;
In many ways, it&rsquo;s this mindset that has led her to think about something more enduring. &ldquo;I think building a brand would be more sustainable. Eventually, it's gonna take care of you better compared to social media because with social media, I am the product. I have a great team with me, but at the end of the day, it's not gonna function without my face. So I feel like eventually when I'm a little bit older, I would need to step back and focus on what truly matters, which is Miggy and, hopefully, the family that we will build.&rdquo;

As she continues to think long-term, she also now enters another defining moment in her life: her recent engagement with Miggy Cruz. Stepping into her new role as fianc&eacute;e, she shares that it did not feel like a drastic change, but more so a natural continuation of a relationship that has only deepened and grown stronger over time. &ldquo;Honestly, I feel like I just fell more in love with Miggy.&rdquo; she candidly admits. &ldquo;I think things are changing in such a way that we have to prioritize. That's a big thing for me because I think the past few years, I've just been very chill about things, but now, there are bigger things you have to consider, like &lsquo;Do you want to have kids?&rsquo;, so we have to talk about those important stuff, the hard conversations.&rdquo; Entering this new chapter has brought with it a renewed sense of clarity, prompting her to reflect on her priorities and, really, the kind of life she wants to build moving forward.
For Rei, success is not defined by numbers or external validation. Instead, she sees success as a sense of contentment, while still giving herself the space to dream bigger. &ldquo;I feel successful when I feel content when I have everything I need and everything I want.&rdquo; she points out. &ldquo;Don't get me wrong, of course, I'm still dreaming for the stars. I still want to do the big things, but I think they can coexist. Dreaming and feeling like you are pretty okay can coexist. Like right now, I feel fine. I feel like everything that I have and everything I need is within my reach. But I can dream more. I don't have to pressure myself.&rdquo;&nbsp;
That mindset of balance and contentment doesn&rsquo;t just shape how she defines success. It also radiates in the way she dresses, with a style that feels just as grounded and self-assured. &ldquo;I like investing in comfortable, timeless pieces. I am now more intentional about the things I buy.&rdquo; When building her outfits, she always prioritizes comfortability. Lately, she finds herself drawn to aesthetics that feel timeless with a modern edge, gravitating toward pieces that can accompany her through her busy lifestyle. &ldquo;There was a time where I was trying coquette, Y2K stuff. There was even a time that I would shop every time I would travel or every time I had an event. But now, I can survive going on multiple trips without new clothes because I was slowly investing in classic pieces that I could really mix and match.&rdquo;

While her wardrobe has become more grounded in timeless essentials, there&rsquo;s still an openness to experiment when the moment calls for it. &ldquo;Given my line of work, there are times when a brand would dress me up, so I feel like I get to be creative and playful when I'm doing it for work. I'm still very willing and open to try new trends because whenever I produce anything for any brand, I just pour my heart and soul into it.&rdquo; This balance allows her to embrace her creativity while staying rooted to her personal style.
In the same way, this intentionality in her style also extends to the finer details&ndash;something she admits she only recently began to pay closer attention to. What felt like an element she once overlooked has now become an important part of how she completes an ensemble, as she learns to incorporate accessories more thoughtfully into her everyday wardrobe. &ldquo;I started accessorizing just very recently, I would say, in 2023 or 2024. I didn't really start as a fashion content creator. I love dressing up, I love shopping, but I wasn't necessarily a fashion creator. But when I started growing my Instagram and more people started appreciating the clothes I wear when I travel, that's when I started thinking, &lsquo;Oh, maybe I could still elevate this.&rsquo;&rdquo;&nbsp;

While her approach to accessorizing has become more deliberate, it also ultimately stems from her being innately sentimental. When deciding which accessories to invest in, Rei gravitates towards pieces that are very personal to her. &ldquo;I'm the type of person who would find meaning in everything. Earlier, when we were shooting with Swarovski, I saw this ring and it had a green and a pink stone. And I was like, &lsquo;This is me and my sister's birthstone.&rsquo; I find meaning in jewelry. So I feel like when something represents something personal to me, I love getting them.&rdquo;
Rather than following trends, she looks for details that feel timeless&ndash;designs that can be worn repeatedly, styled in different ways, and hold meaning close to her heart. This sense of timelessness is what makes her partnership with Swarovski feel like a natural fit. Known for its refined yet contemporary pieces, the House resonates with Rei&rsquo;s evolving style: one that feels classic and incredibly versatile. &ldquo;What&rsquo;s good about Swarovski pieces is that they can fit any look. I personally love their clear stones, but I keep the colorful ones for special events.&rdquo; she shares.
Among the many pieces she&rsquo;s encountered, there are always a few that stand out, particularly those she wore for the shoot, which she was drawn to for their effortless wearability. &ldquo;What I really loved about the pieces that I wore today is that I resonate with them in such a way that you would see the pieces look really timeless, but you would see that they would put a little play on it. Like earlier, I love that I was wearing timeless denim outfits, but the Swarovski pieces elevated the looks and showed more of my personality.&rdquo; What makes her connection with Swarovski even more special is that it&rsquo;s something she&rsquo;s carried with her over the years. One piece, in particular, holds a special place in her memory. &ldquo;I think it was a dangling pair of Swarovski earrings my mom gifted me when I was in third year college. I&rsquo;m always in TriNoma, and there&rsquo;s a huge Swarovski store there. As a teenager, I would always pass that store and I would always tell my mom &lsquo;Oh I want this piece,' and then one day, she just surprised me with it.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Moments like these reflect what makes Swarovski stand out to her beyond aesthetics alone. &ldquo;I really think it's the design and the craftsmanship. You would just see how intricate, seamless, and unique they are. The more you look at one, the more you appreciate it because you see the effort they put into each piece. Not a lot of brands could make colorful jewelry look classy and timeless, and they&rsquo;re the best at doing that.&rdquo;
For those beginning to build their own jewelry collection, Rei suggests starting with something simple and versatile, like a dainty necklace that can be worn everyday and layered with other pieces. It&rsquo;s the same kind of intentionality that guides her choices&mdash;this philosophy of starting simple and building it over time. In the same way, Rei sees Swarovski as best defined by one simple truth: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s timeless, but it evolves with you.&rdquo;
