The French house transforms Ernesto into a bold new fragrance named Carmen, a scent inspired by passion, character, and one of opera's most unforgettable heroines.

For years, Ernesto has been one of Trudon's most recognizable creations, filling homes with its rich blend of tobacco, leather, and spice. Now, the French house is giving that signature scent a new life with Carmen, an eau de parfum that reimagines the spirit of Ernesto through a more intimate and sensual lens.
Rather than creating a direct translation of the candle, Trudon looked elsewhere for inspiration. The fragrance takes its name from Carmen, the heroine of Georges Bizet's opera, a character known for her independence, confidence, and refusal to follow convention. It's a fitting muse for a perfume built around bold contrasts and unmistakable presence.

Developed under the artistic direction of Hugo Ferroux and created by perfumer Emilie Bouge, Carmen revisits the DNA of Ernesto while shifting the focus toward something more personal and skin-like.
The composition opens with bergamot and grapefruit, brightened by the warmth of a rum accord. At the heart, tobacco takes center stage, layered with honeyed nuances, refined leather, clove, and oak wood. Patchouli, labdanum, ambroxan, and moss anchor the fragrance in a deep, contemporary base that unfolds gradually throughout the day.
The result is a scent with real personality. Rich and distinctive without becoming overwhelming, Carmen evolves hour after hour, revealing new facets as it settles on the skin.
As with everything Trudon creates, the packaging receives as much attention as the fragrance itself. The bottle features clean lines, transparent glass, an amber-colored juice, and a white label finished with gold detailing. A ribbed antique-green cap and celadon presentation box complete the look, reinforcing the house's commitment to craftsmanship and design.
The launch extends beyond fragrance, too. Carmen is also available as a scented soap made with a natural formula, allowing the scent to become part of a broader ritual that sits somewhere between beauty, home fragrance, and the French art of living.
At &euro;210 for 100ml, Carmen may be Trudon's latest fragrance, but it already feels like a natural addition to the house's growing universe of modern classics.
