The innovative styling tool just got an upgrade.

A home vacuum brand launching a hairdryer back in 2016-7 was unexpected, but the real surprise was how well it actually worked. When Dyson began selling hair styling devices, the first one being the Supersonic, it was at first odd, but it made sense. After all, the brand&rsquo;s philosophy is to address problems that have long gone unnoticed (and aren&rsquo;t they in the physics and the business of powerful airflow anyway?). When they first launched the Airwrap, though, it felt like something from the future, but Dyson, after all, always seems ten steps ahead of everybody else&rsquo;s technology. They changed the way styling your own hair not just in terms of ease but also in how amazing and salon-like the results were. You&rsquo;d think there&rsquo;s nothing better when it comes to styling tools, but we&rsquo;re wrong&mdash;because Airwrap now gets an upgrade in 2022 with the Airwrap Multi-styler. We&rsquo;ve tried it, and here&rsquo;s what we are loving about this brand new edition of the styling tool.

The original Airwrap is known to give full-bodied, pro-like waves and curls, but there was one small struggle with it&mdash;you had to switch out attachments mid-styling when moving from either side of your head. This was because airflow was only able to move in one outward direction. Now, the new Multi-styler addresses this with a simple switch in a single barrel, making styling around the head more seamless and quicker than ever.

Single-barrel, single-switch curling 

Previously, the pre-styling attachment was a sleeker version of the Supersonic, and it delivered quick but gentle drying before styling damp hair. The new pre-styling attachment though, features the Coanda smoothing effect&mdash;so you don&rsquo;t just get quick pre-drying, but a specially designed feature blow-dries the surface of the hair down and out so that all flyaways are smoothed in and you get an ultra-glossy finish as if you had your hair done professionally. They based the physics of this attachment on the way professional stylists would use a round brush to pull the hair away from the face while simultaneously directing hot air inwards. This technique works because it smooths hair in, but it&rsquo;s not something one can easily do on one&rsquo;s own. Dyson aims to address this by making professional-level styling achievable at home with the new Airwrap.

The Coanda effect = a perfect blowout

The soft and firm brushes already came with the previous version of the tool, but the new edition of the attachments is engineered with the same physics as the new pre-styling attachment. Because of this, you get a more salon-like finish to your blow outs.
