Separate from the Moisturizing Cream, this new formula promises to lock in suppleness and hydration for 24 hours with a hyaluronic-based formula exclusive to Shiseido.

It's said to work best with the Ultimune serum&mdash;an essence-serum hybrid that they say works like vitamins for your skin&mdash;so that when you pair the two, you won't just get an almost-instant moisture charge to your skin, but in two weeks you can see an improvement in radiance, appearance of lines and pores, and an overall glow. It's best to pair together for long-term skin health.

First impressions-wise, the Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream delivers its promise of keeping the hydration on at least overnight for this particular user (me). I applied it after Ultimune in the evening, and in the morning when I cleansed my face for my morning regimen, I felt the product rinse off. For me this feels like it absorbed well enough for it to not go all over my pillows, but stayed on well enough for my face to still feel the product in the morning. After rinsing, my skin still felt supple and healthy too.
