"You wear the makeup. Don't let it wear you."&nbsp;

Makeup workshops come and go but new and practical tips are rare. We learned some though, in a masterclass hosted by Estee Lauder's Director of Global Artistry, Jocelyn Biga. A self-taught and self-made artist, Jocelyn shares us tips we can actually use for day-to-day looks and tricks that make makeup and skin look great in real life. As we begin to slowly come face to face with friends again, here are the techniques we should add to our beauty arsenal.&nbsp;

Apply your base starting from the areas the need coverage the most, for example spots where you have pigmentation, under the eyes, and on marks. That way, when you go in for a second layer, you won't need much&mdash;or you might not even need it at all when you prioritize application this way.&nbsp;

On Foundation Application

Have you ever noticed how makeup always looks best around midday when your natural oils have set in giving you a natural glow? Jocelyn calls it "1 O'Clock Makeup," and you can fake this glow right away&mdash;blend a glowy serum like Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair into a dampened beauty blender, and gently tap into&nbsp;the skin to smoothen edges and blend everything out with a skin-like finish.&nbsp;

We know full well that mascara effectivity is 50% about the brush, but did you know that brush size-to-eye size ratio is important too? Jocelyn suggests that for mascara to work to its full potential, the brush must be able to hug your lashes properly&mdash;too big and you won't utilize the features of the brush, too small and it won't be able to contour to your lash shape. One that's just the right size maximizes the effect of the formula.&nbsp;

Underrated Mascara Hack

Don't knock your full-coverage, long-wear foundation 'til you've made the most of it. Estee Lauder Double Wear remains Jocelyn's favorite foundation (and ours) because of how easy you can manipulate it according to the skin finish you prefer. It performs well as it is, but you can make it sheer by adding a serum like ANR and enjoy its longwear benefit, you can layer it over a glowy primer, you can layer it under several illuminator and bronzers and it will literally stay in place.&nbsp;
